Funeral services for Mary Jean Stevens, 72, of Quinlan, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Wills Point Church of Christ with Mr. Russell Harris, Mr. John Leatherwood and Mr. Bruce Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Elmo Cemetery in Elmo.
She passed away Monday afternoon, March 5, 2018, at her daughter's home in Wills Point, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born May 29, 1945, in Ft. Worth, the daughter of Wallace H. Countryman and Thelma Holt Countryman. She was raised in Oak Cliff and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963. On March 1, 1963, she married Jerry Dale Stevens in Dallas. Mary was a homemaker and in her spare time, she enjoyed painting, making glass beads, rock-hounding, sewing, fishing and loved seeing the mountains. She lived in Plano prior to moving to Quinlan forty-two years ago. Mary taught Sunday school for twenty years and was a faithful member of the Union Valley Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wallace H. and Thelma Countryman and a brother, Duane Countryman.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry Dale Stevens, of Quinlan; son, Jerry "Bo" Stevens & wife, Naulani, of Arp; two daughters, Christy Henderson & husband, Don, of Elmo and Jane Ann Barton & husband, Cecil, of Wills Point; sister-in-law, Shirley Walters, of Midlothian; ten grandchildren, Cody Henderson, Cyle Henderson & wife, Melissa, Buck Stevens & wife, Hanna, Cory Barton & wife, Megan, Michael Stevens, John Stevens & fiancé, Savanna Shaw, Kendall Barton, Sophie Barton, Tara Meyers and Skylar Meyers and five great-grandchildren, Braxton Jackson, Carter Jackson, Jeremiah Stevens, Wyatt Stevens and Reagan Barton.
Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service.
