Mavis Virginia Morris (Rose), age 67, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born on October 6, 1957, in Houston, Texas, she was raised in Amarillo and spent the last 17 years of her life residing in Athens, Texas.

Mavis graduated from Reagan High School in Pasadena, Texas, as part of the Class of 1975. She later built a career at Dairy Queen in Gun Barrel City, where she worked with dedication until her retirement in 2015.

A devoted member of Life Fellowship Church in Athens, Mavis found strength and community through her faith. She was known by those around her as kind, funny, courageous, and selfless—qualities that defined her relationships and the way she lived her life.

Mavis cherished time with her family and had a special fondness for collecting fairies. Her home reflected her whimsical spirit and love for meaningful moments shared with loved ones.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Michael Rose and his wife Tina; Andrew Houston; and Philip Houston. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Eligh Houston, Kayla Houston, Miranda Rose, Zacharaiah Rose, Heather Houston, Haily Houston, and Dillon Houston; as well as her great-grandson Charlie Rose. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Gibbons and husband Patrick; daughter-in-law Carrie Thompson; and a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents Carl M. Rose and Vernie V. Rose; her daughter Jenifer Houston; brother Jerry Rose; and sister Joyce Jones.
