Nancy Jo Childress, 81, of Elmo, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2024. She was born on April 15, 1942, in Elmo, Texas, to the late James and Myrtle Shepard. Nancy was a friendly and spirited individual who had a knack for being handy. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, birdwatching, and even had a pet chicken.
Nancy attended Wills Point High School and later pursued a career as a seamstress. She was known for her skill and attention to detail in her work. Nancy took great pride in her craft.
Nancy was a member of New Release Fellowship of Wills Point, where she worshipped. She found solace and community in her faith.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Childress; her son, John Lloyd Bailey, and his wife, Tana; her stepson, Mark Childress, and his wife, Kathy; her daughter, Sherry Walker, and her husband, Ken; her daughter-in-law, Renee Childress, wife of the late Jim Childress; her brother, Chuck (Butch) Shepard, and his wife, Cookie; her sister, Donna Coker; her grandchildren, Billy Walker and his wife Rochelle, Shannon Corbett and her husband Brandon, Jonathan Bailey and his wife Bertha, Jena Bailey; her great-grandchildren, Emmarie Corbett, Cody Walker and his wife Ilma, Collin Walker; and her great-great-grandchildren, Liam Walker and Aaron Walker. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Myrtle Shepard; her brothers, Paul Shepard, William Shepard, John Allan Shepard, and George Raymond Clower; her sister, Delilah Parker; her stepson, Jim Childress; and her stepdaughter, Carolyn Roberts.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Elmo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Stone Point Church of Wills Point or the New Release Youth Department of Wills Point in memory of Nancy.
The Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
