Nelta Laverne Pirtle Huff, 100, of Wills Point, Texas passed away on May 22, 2023 at her home.
Nelta was born on April 7, 1923 in Canton, Texas to Homer Neil Hubbard and Lillie Dalma Taylor Hubbard.
She grew up in the Canton area and Dawson Community. She attended Canton schools and graduated with the class of 1943. Nelta married Hershel Pirtle in Wills Point in 1946. Together they raised one son and three daughters. In 1994 Nelta married W. T. Huff. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Turner Baptist Church.
She was employed with the Terrell State Hospital, Malouf Manufacturing, and Wills Point ISD Cafeteria.
Nelta enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, and embroidering. She was a member of the Hayden Quilting Club, Home Extension Club, and the Red Hat Ladies Club.
Nelta is preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lillie Hubbard, husband Hershel Pirtle, and second husband W.T. Huff; son Bobby Pirtle; two sisters Bessie Wilson and Mary Lou Wilson; Five brothers: John Richard Hubbard, Neal Hubbard, Guy Hubbard, Wendell Hubbard, and Glenn Hubbard; grandchild Barbara Petty; and son-in-law Nick DeCanto
She is survived by her daughters Adelle Grimes of Wills Point, Mary DeCanto of Garland, Martha Pirtle of Wills Point, daughter-in-law Joyce Pirtle of Wills Point, and grandchildren Bobby Pirtle and wife Sina; Odis Pirtle and wife Shari; Mike Horton and wife Charlotte; Darrin DeCanto and wife Jen; great grandchildren Dylan and Nikki, Trevor, Trenton, Brittani, Katie, Chris, Josh, Chris, Suzi, Rebecca, Krystal, Whitney and husband Kambel, Sissy and husband Bryce, Shelby, Megan and husband Jakob, and Reese; great-great-grandchildren Bentley, Bradley, Gracie, Douglas, Blake, Bishop, Wyatt, Caden and Scout. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alinea Family Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Union Grove Cemetery.
Funeral Services will be held at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
