Obituary

Ona Fay Hatfield, 92, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on December 20, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1931, in Cooper, Texas, to the late Burl Clayton and Ona Cleo Jobe Clayton Carpenter.

Ona, also known as Fay, was a beloved member of her community. She owned and operated JR's Parkway Grocery and later worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart. Her dedication and hard work made her a well-respected individual.

In her free time, Fay had a passion for gardening and flowers. She spent her childhood summers picking cotton for her mom to make dresses for school. Fay was also elected Matron of Eastern Star, showcasing her commitment to service and kindness.

Fay was a faithful member of the Baptist Faith and attended Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton, Texas. Her devotion to her religion was an integral part of her life.

Fay will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her niece Debbie Pruyn and husband Steve, niece Donna Lee, sister Mary Pliler, great-grandson Johnny Orranita, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Ray Hatfield, sons Ray Burl Hatfield and James Rodney Hatfield, granddaughter Tammy Hatfield, great-granddaughter Jeanette Orranita, and sisters Joy McFadin, Wanda Woody, and Ruth Goodenough.
