Patricia Kay Morton Ayers was born February 4, 1948, in Los Alamos, New Mexico to Horace Hiram Morton and Mary Ella McGee Morton. She passed away Tuesday, July 6 in Tyler, TX after a lengthy battle with heart disease.
Patty graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1966, attended college in Athens, and became a dental hygienist. She worked at Terrell State Hospital for over 25 years in various positions, including Director of Nursing. Her work in case studies has been published in Nursing Journals and teaching materials. Patty cared deeply for her patients and thoroughly enjoyed her work in psychiatric care. Patty enjoyed working in her yard, home improvement projects, watching baseball and most of all, shopping. Her home was always open to stray animals and "misfit" cousins.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis Ayers, son Patrick William Morton, nephews Robert Morton, Rusty Morton, and niece Patricia Joy Orsborn.

Also, sister Jean King and husband Jackie of Fruitvale, brother Jerry Morton and wife Peggy of Keo, Arkansas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter or donate a pair of shoes in her honor.
