Patricia "Patty" Reid Cooper, 57, went home to be with her heavenly Father Friday morning, November 25, 2016 after fighting her courageous battle with cancer. Patty was born March 20, 1959 in Arlington, Texas to James M. Reid and Fern Sallings Reid. She attended Wills Point Schools where she participated as a member of the volleyball team, twirler and cheerleader. Patty's 38 year career was in the oil and gas industry and was last employed as a GEO Science Technician at Energen Resources in Midland, Texas. Patty was an active member of the Mid-Cities Community Church in Midland. There she lovingly served in the children's ministry. In March of this year, the children awarded Patty with "Shiver Me Timbers" award. In Patty's own words, "It was one of the greatest awards I have ever received in life". Patty loved animals of every sort and had a soft spot for any dog needing a home. Patty's sense of humor was remarkable and she brought joy to those close her.
She married Bobby L. Cooper on April 13, 2001 in Albany, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother Fern Sallings Reid, maternal grandparents, Sterling and Virgie Sallings, paternal grandparents, Roscoe and Georgia Reid and nephew Jason Parvin.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Cooper, daughter Kristen Dodge of Nacogdoches and son Aaron Dodge of McKinney. She is also survived by her father, James M. Reid of Mesquite, sisters Pam Reid of Wills Point and Debbie Reid Martin of Rockwall, niece Tracy Butler of Rockwall, nephew Justin Martin of Royse City, great- nephews Chase Butler and Peyton Martin both of Rockwall, great- niece Keeley Parvin of Rockwall, mother-in-law Barbara Cooper of Albany, Texas and numerous other loved ones.
In lieu of flowers Patty has requested donations be made in her name to your local Animal Shelter.
Per Patty's request we will have a Celebration of Life Service at the Lake Tawakoni Bass Club, Saturday December 17, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Patty requests everyone celebrate her life by sharing their funniest moments spent with her, a BBQ lunch and plenty of laughter. Those desiring, may bring an adult beverage of their choice.
