Paul Lawrence Roppolo

August 26, 1942 — February 24, 2026

Paul Lawrence Roppolo, age 83, of Terrell, Texas, (Formerly of Wills Point) passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

A man of deep dedication to both his family and his country, Paul leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, service, and a lifelong passion for history and adventure. Born in Dallas, Texas, to Paul Tom Roppolo and Margaret Juanita Thacker, Paul grew up in the Dallas and Garland areas.

His character was forged early when he left Garland High School to run his family's grocery store after his father fell ill. He later joined the United States Navy, where he completed his education and served with distinction as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Kearsarge (CV-33). Though he would have made the Navy his career, he chose to return to civilian life as the Vietnam War began.

He spent the majority of his professional life as a dedicated Iron Worker and also shared his love for food as the owner of BBQ restaurants for several years. Paul was a man of many interests, nearly all of which involved a connection to the past or the open road.

He was an avid traveler who frequented museums to study history. Whether he was listening to old music, admiring airplanes, trains, and vintage cars, or simply talking to people, Paul was always engaged with the world around him. Above all, he found true freedom riding his Harley and joy in serving BBQ and hamburgers from his concession trailer.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Dunn-Roppolo. His memory will be cherished by his children and their spouses: Jason Roppolo and wife Lizette; Patrick Roppolo and wife Debbie; Jarrod Roppolo and wife Michelle; April England and husband Billy He was a proud grandfather to Jonathon, Brett, Daniel, Benicio (Ben), Baylee, Alonna, Sage, Kayelyn, and Mariella (Belle). His legacy continues through seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Valerin, and many cousins, nephews, and a niece. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Tom Roppolo and Margaret Juanita Thacker.
