Richard Maxwell Gilley, 73, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on September 3, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

Richard was born on January 26, 1948, in Dallas, Texas to the late Richard Durwood Gilley and Dorothy Gilley. Richard was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in the Army from 1968 to 1970. Richard married his beloved wife Mary Williams on January 15, 1993, in Mesquite. They moved from Mesquite to Wills Point 24 years ago. Richard retired from Ferrell Construction in 1996. He also worked for Van Zandt County Precinct 3 Road Commissioner. Richard enjoyed dirt track race cars, building motors and his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Gilley of Wills Point; sons, Jeffery Gilley and wife Cindy of Austin and Robert Gowin and wife April of Kaufman; daughters, Amy Vanderslice and husband Matt of Eustace and Jennifer Corey and husband Jeff of Canton; brother Mark Gilley and wife Shauna of Wilmer; sisters, Linda Westbrook of Crandall and Peggy Hobbs of Ovilla; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jackie Wayne Gilley and Grandson Cale Gilley.

Family will be receiving guests Friday, September 10, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Allan Fuller Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas.
