Obituary

Richard Marvin Mullin, known to old friends as Dickie, of Wills Point, Texas, left this world on Monday July 5, 2021, at his residence in Wills Point, Texas.

He was born on March 21, 1949, at Saint Paul Hospital in Dallas, Texas, to the late Billie Joe Mullin and Irma Dean Mullin Pierce. He was raised in Wills Point and graduated in the Class of 1967. After graduation, Richard attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens, receiving his Nursing Home Administrator's License. Richard owned and operated three nursing homes for 28 years before going back to college and attending the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, where he received his Funeral Director's License. In the year 2000, he and his two sons, Doug and Josh, purchased American Mortuary Service in Dallas. Shortly after, his daughter Melissa joined the team to make it a full family affair. Richard made sure all his grandchildren had the experience of being around or working at the Mortuary at some point in their lives over the past 15 years. Richard had the gift of gab, enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with his family. His most prideful times were the many trips and adventures with his grandchildren, mostly without parental permission, but those memories will be the ones we never forget.

To cherish his memory, Richard leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Vicki Mullin, of Terrell; sons, Doug Mullin and wife Melanie of Wills Point; Joshua Mullin of Forney; daughter, Melissa Robinson and husband Steve of Forney; sister, Cathie and husband James McFarland of Colorado; grandchildren, Seth, Trent, Abagail, Sydney, Alec, Carter, Chloe, and Adasyn; along with nephews Chris and Jason McFarland, and niece Rebecca McFarland; cousins, loving relatives, and many friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents.
