Obituary

Rick Searles, 68, of Terrell, TX, passed away on December 17, 2020 following bypass surgery on his leg.

Rick was born on November 9, 1952 to Dick and Lorraine Searles in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After graduating from Irving High School, he went on to study Architecture and Engineering at UT Arlington.

In 1995, Rick met Beth at work in Addison, TX, and they fell in love almost instantly (after she realized he knew the words to Itsy Bitsy Spider), and they wed on June 5, 1999. They created a blended family with Ashley, Allison, Brandon and Carissa.

Rick was a force of nature, determined to provide the best for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of each of his children and also his grandchildren, Bronson, Jack, Kaitlyn, Cooper and Cole, who fondly referred to him as Grumpy or Grampy.

Rick was a die-hard Cowboy fan and still has a man-crush on Tony Romo and he hates kickers (unless they make the point)! He was also a passionate craftsman who could be found in his wood shop working on gifts for family or the latest crazy idea that Beth had.

Anyone who knew Rick knew that he was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for. Rick was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine and his father, Dick. He is survived by his wife, his children, Ashley and husband Jonathan Teague of Frisco; Allison and husband Daniel Diemer of Acworth, GA; Brandon Stovall of Dallas and Carissa Dierksen of Rockwall, along with his grandchildren, his sister Jan Smith and her husband Randy, his favorite sister-in-law Michele and her husband David Bell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home, 205 Corky Boyd Ave., Wills Point, Texas 75169. All attending will be required to wear a mask.
