Ricky "Pat" McFadden passed away peacefully at home with his daughter and faithful cat, "Carl" by his side. Pat was born September 2, 1951, to Dalford "D.O." and Geneva McFadden. Pat was born and raised in Commerce, TX. From a young age, Pat enjoyed horseback riding, showing cattle and actively participating in 4-H and FFA. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1970 and served in the National Guard. Pat had a strong love for animals and spent a great deal of time breaking horses and raising cattle.

Soon after high school, Pat started dairy farming and raising a family. Those years were filled with long days, hard work and wonderful memories. Pat worked tirelessly to keep his dream of dairy farming alive, providing for his family through dedication, perseverance and a deep love for his land and animals. In later years, Pat worked a full-time job at the farm at Texas A & M - Commerce while simultaneously operating his own dairy. His pride and joy truly was his farm and family.

After retiring from the dairy business, Pat moved to Rockwall, TX, to live with his daughter, son in law and 2 grandkids. He quickly became known at "Grandpa Pat", "Mr. Pat", "Pops" and "Papa" to beloved friends and neighbors. His days revolved around spoiling his grand kids and grand dogs. He was a fixture in the neighborhood - a grandpa to his family and all his grandkid's friends.

In 2014, Pat faced life changing medical complications that would leave him wheelchair bound. Through pure grit and determination Pat survived with one goal in mind to watch his grandkids grow up.

Although he faced daily challenges, he met every obstacle head on with gratitude to have one more day to enjoy life's simple pleasures. A true "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, Pat loved sports and always claimed he was no longer a Dallas Cowboy fan, but we all knew better. He cherished a quiet life in his apartment with his cat, but he did not miss a chance to watch his grandson and granddaughter play baseball and softball.

Pat is survived by his daughter and her family, Marisa, Alan, Blake and Reagan Phillips of Rockwall, TX; his sister and brother in law Lisa and Randy Rabe of Klondike, TX; his brother in law Neil Stewart of Campbell, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of friends and neighbors in Rockwall who treated him like family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gena McFadden; son, Michael McFadden; parents, D.O. and Geneva McFadden; sister, Odena Stewart.

A Celebration of Life will be held per Pat's wishes on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. at the Harry Meyers Community Center 807 E. Washington St. Rockwall, Texas 75087. Guests are encouraged to wear your favorite cowboy boots and jeans. A private graveside service will be held for family at a later date.
