Robert Steven Oldfield

Robert Steven Oldfield, known to many as Steve, passed away on October 14, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on October 18, 1953, in Terrell, Texas, and will be remembered as a laid-back, soft-spoken man whose great sense of humor, quick wit, and free-spirited nature brought joy to those around him. He could be funny and sarcastic in a way that made people laugh, and he carried the kind of presence that could make him the life of the party while still remaining unmistakably himself.

Steve devoted his working life to a lifelong career as a die cutter, most recently at A- Box in Kaufman before retiring. His work reflected steadiness and commitment, the kind of quiet dedication that marked so much of his life.

He found happiness in simple and lasting pleasures. Steve loved playing guitar, drawing and creating artwork, listening to music, and fishing. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and liked reading the Bible. He also treasured spending time with and training his four-legged best friends, Jake and Nikki, companions who clearly held a special place in his heart.

Those who knew Steve will remember a man with an easy manner and a warm spirit, someone whose humor came naturally and whose company was deeply enjoyed. Whether sharing a laugh, talking music, casting a line, or simply being present, he left behind memories that will continue to be cherished.

He is survived by his sister, Sheryl Oldfield. He also leaves behind his nephew Lindy Morris and Lindy's wife, Jessica, and his nephew Saxon Adams and Saxon's wife, Michaela. Steve's memory will also be carried forward by his great-nieces and nephews, Haven Morris, Lindyn Morris, and Jude Adams, who were part of the family circle that brought him pride and affection.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Mack Oldfield; his mother, Joyce Lafay Dodson Oldfield; and his brother, Mike Oldfield.

Steve's life was marked by humor, music, artistry, loyalty, and a spirit that moved at its own honest pace. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
