Obituary

Robert Joe "PaPa" Wilson, 85, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Wills Point, Texas.

Born on November 4, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, Robert was the son of Jack and Emma Lee Wilson. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959 and went on to attend the University of North Texas. A longtime resident of Garland before relocating to Wills Point in 2000, Robert embraced the peaceful life by the lake with his beloved wife, Alice Wilson.

Robert retired from Data Matque in 2002 after a dedicated career. Known affectionately as "Mr. Jack of all Trades," he was admired for his creativity and skillful hands. Whether it was building something from scratch or fixing what others thought unfixable, Robert approached every task with ingenuity and care.

His hobbies reflected his love for both nature and craftsmanship. He found joy in hunting and fishing, and spent countless hours woodworking—creating pieces that were as functional as they were heartfelt. Mowing his lawn—and often his neighbors'—was more than a chore; it was a way he showed care for his community. But above all else, Robert's greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren. His role as "PaPa" was one he cherished deeply.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Alice Wilson; daughters Terri Reyna and her husband Victor, and Robbi Garza and her husband Jose. He leaves behind five grandchildren who brought immense pride to his life: Joseph Reyna; Nathaniel Reyna and his partner Katherine Vuong; Jeremy Garza and his wife Traci; Ashli Burton and her partner Preston Binder; and Justin Garza and his wife Kalea. Great-Grandchildren Reigni, Royal, Rori, River, Jordy, Emmi and McKenzie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Emma Lee Wilson; his brother Kenneth Wilson; and sister Jackie Laymond.

A man of quiet strength, generous spirit, and boundless love for family, Robert's legacy lives on through the lives he touched so deeply.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
