Funeral services for Roger Britton, 93, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the Edgewood Church of Christ with Mr. Larry DeLong and Mr. Ken Maddox officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.
He passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, in Grand Saline.
Roger was born February 27, 1924, in Edgewood, the son of Tom Dewitt Britton and Daisy Cynthia Mullins Britton. He was raised in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1942 as Valedictorian. On January 22, 1949, he married Louise Smith in Wills Point. Roger was formerly employed as a station agent for Union Pacific Railroad in Grand Saline, Terrell, Edgewood and retired from Wills Point, in 1984, after thirty-eight years. In his spare time, he made radio and T.V. antennas and enjoyed working on anything electrical. Roger was a Ham Radio Operator for many years and his call number was W5PIK. He lived in Wills Point prior to moving to Edgewood in 1961. Roger formerly served as a deacon for the Wills Point Church of Christ and later as a deacon and secretary for the Edgewood Church of Christ, where he was a faithful member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Daisy Britton; three brothers, Joe Britton, John Britton and Britt Britton and two sisters, Ruby Simmons and Katherine Hubble.
Roger is survived by his wife, Louise Britton, of Edgewood; daughter, Marilyn Joiner & husband, Dan, of Grand Saline; sister-in-law, Judy Foster, of Brownsboro; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the Edgewood Church of Christ one hour prior to funeral service.
