Rory Don Blackwood, known to many as Don Blackwood, passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 72 in Wills Point, Texas. He was born on April 28, 1951, in Muleshoe, Texas. Don was a retired elevator consultant, having spent many years working for Otis Elevator company before continuing his employment at Lerch Bates in Dallas.

Don was a generous, funny, and selfless individual. He had a deep love for his family and is survived by five sons: Brian Gwinn, Cody Owens, Austin Owens and his wife, Abbi, and Chad Blackwood and his wife, Gabby Cervantes and Chase Blackwood. He is also survived by three daughters: Jennifer Edwards and her husband, Brian, Amber Gipson and her husband, Matthew, and Kelly Boros and her husband, James. Don's sister, Cathy Bass, was also a cherished member of his family. Additionally, he leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Abby, Takoda, Tavi, Kyla, Emerson, Ethan, Logan, Sadie, Scarlett, Peyton, Taygun, Ansley, and Jake.

Don will be dearly missed by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Billy Ray and Catherine Stanley Carter Blackwood, his brother David Blackwood, and his daughter Charla Gwinn.

Don had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies such as golfing, fishing, hunting, cooking, traveling, and all sports. He found solace and community in his faith and was a member of the Baptist Faith.

A Funeral service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by the service at 12:00 pm, at Calvary Baptist Church.  Mullin Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
