Funeral services for Rose Whitaker, 79, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Don Tisdale and Rev. Matt Ward officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
She passed away Monday evening, June 6, 2016, in an Athens hospital.
Rose was born January 28, 1937, in Hamilton, Texas, the daughter of Gentry Paul Haynes and Rose Ellen Pierce Haynes. She was raised in Hamilton. Rose married Leslie Hugh Whitaker and they were together for sixty-two years. She was a homemaker and had lived in Wills Point most of her life. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Rose was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point.
Preceded in death by her parents, Gentry Paul and Rose Ellen Haynes; husband, Hugh Whitaker on January 20, 2013; four brothers; granddaughter, Amee Gail Adams and a great grandson, Zane Dixon.
Rose is survived by two sons, Les Whitaker, of Wills Point and Carl Whitaker & wife, Celia, of Edgewood; two daughters, Jeannie Nation & husband, Ronnie, of Edgewood and Debra Ward & husband, Phillip, of Wills Point; two brothers, Don Haynes, of Mt. Vernon and Joe Haynes, of Hamilton; three sisters, Cora Marcum, of Lebanon, Missouri, Alice Ault, of Hamilton and Lucille Haynes, of Clifton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
