A proud graduate of McCollum High School in 1964, Roy answered the call to serve his country soon thereafter. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1964 and honorably served until May of 1968. Following his military service, he began a long and fruitful career at Alamo Ironworks in San Antonio, where he worked for over twenty years before retiring. Roy was known among colleagues and friends as a dependable and skilled salesman, admired not only for his professional abilities but also for his caring nature and readiness to help anyone in need.
In September of 1972, Roy married Norma Russell Shannon in San Antonio, Texas. Their union was the cornerstone of a loving family that he treasured deeply. Together, they built a life rich with love and laughter, moving to Arlington, Texas, where they lived for more than 25 years before relocating to Wills Point in 2013.

His friends and family remember him as funny yet dependable, a man willing to do anything for anyone. His passion for fishing and hunting was well known, as was his enthusiasm for football, particularly when rooting for the Texas Longhorns.
