Visitation Services for Sarah Elizabeth "Liz" Wilson Ellis, 90, of Wills Point will be held October 5, 2021 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at White Rose Cemetery.
Liz was born on October 7, 1930 in the Fairview Community south of Wills Point to Charlie and Evna Wilson. She graduated from Wills Point High school in 1947. She received her bachelor's and master's degree from East Texas State Teachers College.
Liz married Billy D. Ellis January 15, 1955 at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. They made their home in the Hayden Community, south of Wills Point, where she resided until the time of her passing.
Liz was a public-school teacher at Canton, Mesquite, Myrtle Springs and Wills Point. She also taught business subjects at TVCC. Liz served as an elementary school principal at Myrtle Springs and Wills Point before retiring after 35 years.
Liz was honored as the VZC "Woman of the Year" in 1985 and also "Homemaker of the Year" in 1998. She was active in 4-H Club work, "Darlin Damsels" Red Hatters, Rebekah Lodge #277, Easter Star, U.D.C., United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa Gamma and teaching the Pricilla S.S. class at RMUMC, where she was a member.
Liz loved people, going to club meetings, school reunions and entertaining her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth. and Sarah's friends.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Evna Wilson; husband, Billy D. Ellis; and brother, Billy Jack Wilson.
Liz is survived by son, Charlie Ellis, wife Stacey of the Fairview Community; granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth of Huntsville; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the WPISD Education Foundation, Russell Memorial United Methodist Church Benevolence fund or the Hayden Baptist Church.
