Funeral services for Shirley Hunter, 81, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point with Pastor Bill Lundy officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
She passed away Friday morning, February 9, 2018, in Wills Point.
Shirley was born March 29, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised in Dallas, where she attended public school. In 1976, she moved to Wills Point. For eleven years Shirley was employed by the Wills Point I.S.D. as a teachers aid, retiring in 1989. After retirement, she began working for Country Nurses doing home health care. In her spare time, she enjoyed making and collecting ceramics and watching westerns. Shirley was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by her foster mom, Bessie Morgan and husbands, Robert Allin, Joe Wayne DuBose, Sr., Robert L. Simonek and A.M. Hunter.
Shirley is survived by five sons, Gary Simonek & wife, Dena, of Wills Point, Ronnie Allin, of Nevada, Joe Wayne DuBose, of Nevada, Terry Simonek & wife, Debbie, of Greenville and Charles DuBose, of Beaumont; two daughters, Rita DuBose, of Wills Point and Kira Bradley, of Waco; step-daughter, Barbara Trammell & husband, Wayne, of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren, Dusty DuBose, Robbie Simonek, Brianna Russell, Jason Simonek and Joseph Spalding and nine great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
