Funeral services for Sybil Lynn Looney, 96, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Pastor Fred Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
She passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2017, in Wills Point.
Sybil was born January 17, 1921, in Madill, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lonnie and Edith Baughman. She was raised in Grand Saline and later moved to Myrtle Springs, where she had lived most of her life. She married James Guy Looney and he passed away on February 27, 1965 and exactly fifty-two years later on the same date Sybil passed away. Sybil was formerly employed by Locust Grove Nursing Home south of Wills Point and Anderson Nursing Home in Grand Saline. In 1985, she opened her own restaurant, Sybil's Country Kitchen in Myrtle Springs, retiring in January 2017. She enjoyed writing poems and songs. Sybil was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Edith Baughman; husband, James Guy Looney; son, Phillip Looney and six sisters, Dolly Geddy, Nina Rosamond, Marie Willoughby, Beulah Willoughby, Pearl Simpson and Murl Simpson.
Sybil is survived by three sons, Edward Looney & wife, Vicki, of Wills Point, James Looney & wife, Johnnie, of Edgewood and Ricky Lynn Looney & wife, Ronda, of Wills Point; two daughters, Nancy Martin & husband, Herman, of Wills Point and Valta J. Gibbons & husband, Nick, of Wills Point; daughter-in-law, Cecelia Looney, of Wills Point; sister, Juanita Broyles, of Tyler; seven grandchildren, Daniel Martin, Kevin Martin, Tommy Looney, Jason Chad Looney, Jeffery Looney, Misty Dawn Jackson and Angel Turner; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon Martin, Trevor Looney, Jacob Looney, Andrew Looney, Lance Turner, Chase Jackson, Heidi Martin, Brittany Martin, Jaylee Jackson and Hope Turner and one great-great grandson, Jet Jackson.
