Thomas Preston Lamar peacefully passed from this life on March 9, 2023 at the age of 85.  Tom was born in Wills Point on April 14, 1937 to Arthur and Francine Tull Lamar.  He attended Wills Point Schools graduating with the class of 1955.  After graduation Tom joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in England for three years.

In 1961, Tom met his West Texas girl and he and Grace Newsom were married in Graham, Texas on July 15, 1961.  They made their home in Wills Point for the next 61 years raising two sons, Mark and Steve and living on a small farm outside of town.

Tom worked for AT&T for many years, later retiring in 1999. He was a lifelong member of Wills Point Church of Christ.

Tom was a simple man and lived a quiet life.  He was a Civil War History enthusiast and very mechanically inclined.  He could build and repair almost anything.  He loved wood working and restoring Cushman motor scooters.  He enjoyed hanging around his workshop, drinking his coffee, playing with his grandchildren and raising many dogs.

Tom is survived by his wife Grace, two sons, Mark and wife Lori: Steve and wife Kelly. Five Grandchildren Collin, Lindsey, Katlyn, Konner and Karson.  He is also survived by his sister Jean Westbrook and husband Merlin.

The family would like to thank the home care team of Corey, Amber and David for their support over the past few months. Also, to the Church of Christ family, Crestwood Care Center and the Hospice team for their comfort and support.

In lieu of flowers any donation can be made to the White Rose Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday March 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Wills Point Church of Christ.
