Funeral services for Tommie Lee Vinson, 89, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.
He passed away Tuesday night, April 19, 2016 at Dallas VA Medical Center.
Tommie was born March 7, 1927, in Mineola, Texas, the son of James Edward Vinson and Susie Virginia Dunbar Vinson. He lived in Edgewood, where he attended public school. He later moved to Wills Point. Tommie was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. In 1947, he married Loveta Copeland and she preceded him in death on July 17, 1977. He was formerly a truck driver and later a self-employed carpenter. Tommie enjoyed gardening, fishing and going to the flea market. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Susie Virginia Vinson; two brothers, Jimmy Dorn Vinson and Emmett Vinson; eight sisters, Verba Clower, Ollie Sledge, Inez Wright, Lillian Beall, Opal Gregston, Lorene Rodden, Lena Slayton and Aline Wade.
Tommie is survived by his son, Kenneth Vinson & wife, Bobbie, of Wills Point; daughter, Peggy Baird, of Burnet; four grandchildren, Robin Smith, Caryn Jackson, Casey Baird and Shalako Yates; six great-grandchildren, Kelsy Jackson, Michele Jackson, Summer McLeod, Halle Smith, Cannon Baird and Elyn Baird; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
