Michael Humphries

Tom Michael Humphries, 88, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born on February 10, 1937, in Houston, Texas, he lived a full and spirited life marked by dedication to family, faith, and the great outdoors.
A proud graduate of Edgewood High School in the Class of 1955, Tommy built a career rooted in hard work and commitment. He retired in 1992 after twenty years of service with TPL (now Oncor), where his reliability and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
On July 23, 1958, Tommy married the love of his life, Martha Humphries, in Small, Texas. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage filled with laughter, resilience, and deep devotion to their family. Tommy was a beloved father to James Humphries and his wife Darla, and to Tami Poe and her husband Don. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren—Kristin Keyes and husband Dr. Kyle Keyes; Ryan Humphries and wife Sarah; Emily Poe; and Julie Chavez and husband Jonathan—as well as seven great-grandchildren: Konner, Aiden, Autumn, Beau, Preslie, Maybrie, and Fynlie. He is survived by his brother Jimmy Humphries.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Emma Humphries, and his brother Dr. Wayne Humphries, Sister-in-law, Dorothy Humphries. Grandparents, Tom Humphries and Ethel Brown Humphries.
A man who found joy in nature's embrace, Tommy loved hunting and fishing. He had a passion for four-wheelers and motorcycles—anything that brought him closer to the outdoors he cherished so deeply. Those who knew him remember his humor, spirited nature, and courageous heart—qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Tommy was a faithful member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church. His presence there reflected not only his spiritual devotion but also his commitment to the community.
Pallbearers included Ryan Humphries, Richard Phillips, Stuart Humphries, Brian Humphries, Dr. Kyle Keyes, and Brad Humphries. Jackie McBride served as honorary pallbearer.
Tommy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mullin Fuller Funeral Home Chapel 205 Corky Boyd Ave.. Visitation will be held Thursday June 5, 2025, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Mullin Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point, Texas.
