Victoria Sue "Vickie" Aken, 72, of Terrell, Texas, passed away on June 14, 2025, in Canton.

Born on January 30, 1953, in Wills Point, Texas, Vickie was the daughter of Andrew and Ara Gant. She was also deeply influenced by her beloved grandmother, Minnie Lee Gant, with whom she shared a special bond throughout her life.

Vickie pursued a career in nursing and earned her Master's degree in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. Her dedication to healthcare and service extended beyond her professional life into her retirement years. She remained active in her community as a member of the TSC Retired Ladies and volunteered regularly at the Kaufman County Extension Office. Her passion for horticulture led her to become a Master Gardener in Kaufman County, where she shared her knowledge and love for gardening with others.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dave Aken. Family was at the heart of Vickie's world. Her son, James Boxley; her daughter, Kim Travers and husband Troy; and her cherished grandchildren, Baylee Travers and Trent Travers. She also leaves behind her extended family, Lynn King, Jim Aken, Patrica and Jim Verrelle, and Monica Hudspeth.

Vickie found joy in life's simple pleasures—traveling to new places, tending to her garden, and especially shopping during First Monday Trade Days. Holidays were a treasured time at her home, filled with warmth and celebration. Music brought her great happiness; she enjoyed all genres and particularly loved attending concerts with her granddaughter Baylee.

Those who knew Vickie will remember her as loving, kind-hearted, and faith-filled—a woman who gave generously of herself to family, friends, and community.

A funeral service celebrating Vickie's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Mullin Fuller Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 18, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
