Obituary

Virgil Wayne Groom, 85 of Edgewood, TX, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2020 at Crestwood Nursing Home in Wills Point, TX.


Virgil was born on February 28, 1934, to Myrtie and Truman Groom, in Phalba, Texas. Snooks was a lifetime resident of Mabank until the last 3 years; he resided in Edgewood, Texas. Virgil was a member of Mabank Assembly of God in Mabank, Texas. Virgil retired from Virgil's Electric. He enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to music, playing dominoes and telling stories for all to hear. Virgil enjoyed volunteering his time singing for local nursing homes and community centers.

To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his children; Linda Groom of Edgewood, Wayne Groom and wife, Kathy of Mabank, Frankie Wilson and husband C.W. of Wills Point, Philip Groom and wife, Patricia of Red Oak, Susan Tull and husband, Chuck of Edgewood; brothers, Rudy Groom, Donny Groom, Kenneth Groom and Truman Groom Jr.; 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Virgil is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dian Allison; brother, Billy Groom; granddaughter, Courtney Howard and grandson, Jason Wilson.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 3PM to 5PM at Allan Fuller Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 2PM at Allan Fuller Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the care of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.
