Wandell (Dell)
Laverne Wallace
February 6, 1933 – March 19, 2022
Wandell (Dell) Laverne Denby Wallace was born on February 6, 1933, in Canton, TX, the daughter of Robert Jessie Denby and Ida Estelle Phillips Denby.
She married J.B. "Buzz" Wallace on March 25, 1950. They were married for 67 years before "Buzz" passed away in 2017. Dell worked at Simplicity Pattern Company for many years while living in Dallas and went to work at Malouf's in Wills Point when she and Buzz moved to Wills Point in 1970.
Dell loved working in her garden and was especially proud of her beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed fishing and going camping and deer hunting with family and friends-Anytime you came to visit you were sure to go home with a load of fresh vegetables from the garden and some of Dell's freshly made dill pickles-she made the best pickles and we couldn't wait to eat them-but she always made us wait 2 weeks for them to be 'ready'.
Dell and Buzz had 3 children- Wanda-Roy and Sheri-she was a very sweet and loving mother and the best "Maw-Maw" to her 9 grandkids. She also was great-grandma and great-great grandma.
She loved to have holidays at their house and cooked for days it seemed, but she truly enjoyed it and having her family around her.
Dell was a member at the Chapel of the Lake for many years and would walk to the church on Sunday mornings if necessary and enjoyed going on the many trips with her church friends in the Ladies Bible group. Unfortunately, those good times ended when Alzheimer's took over her life.
She passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wesley Oaks Memory Care.
She is preceded in death by her husband J.B. "Buzz" Wallace-son Roy Gene Wallace, parents Jessie Robert Denby and Ida Estella Denby as well as her 4 brothers-Earl, Pete, Freeman and Bill-granddaughter Darla Moore and great-grandson Daniel Moore.
Dell is survived by her 2 daughters Wanda McKibben and husband Jim of Yantis and Sheri Mitchell of Mesquite. Grandchildren- Troy Smith, Dione Watkins, Jessica Britt, Gary Paris, Lauren Mitchell, Kevin Wallace, Kristan Hammonds and Kaci Wallace and numerous great and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Wandell Wallace. Family will be accepting guests one hour prior for visitation.
