Funeral services for Wayne Petrea, 80, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Dr. Gene Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.
He passed away Wednesday evening, December 10, 2014, at his residence in Wills Point.
Wayne was born August 20, 1934, in Mineola, Texas, the son of Valton Arlis Petrea and Dollie Mae Hubbard Petrea. He was raised in Grand Saline where he attended public school. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served during the Korean Conflict and later was in the Army National Guard. On April 1, 1955, he married Bessie Mae Langford in Wills Point. Wayne was employed by Gateway Lumber Company in Wills Point, retiring in 1994 and Rip Griffins Truck Stop in Terrell. He enjoyed fishing, mowing yards and watching TV, especially Wheel of Fortune. Wayne loved his family very much. He moved from Grand Saline to Wills Point fifty-seven years ago. Wayne was a member of the VFW and Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point.
Preceded in death by his parents, Valton and Dollie Petrea and two brothers, Marlin Petrea and Darrell Petrea.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Bessie Langford Petrea, of Wills Point; son, Terry Petrea & wife, Teri, of Terrell; two daughters, Linda Petrea & Jamie Sturgill, of DeSoto and Glenda Powers & husband, Bob, of Elmo; nine grandchildren, Cory Petrea, Casey Petrea, Colton Petrea, Nicole Garza, B.J. Garza, Kristy Lackey, Michael Powers, Jason Powers and Cassie Huntsman and ten great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
