Wayne Douglas Wright of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, following a long battle with dementia. He was 86 years old.

Wayne was born to William Douglas Wright and Gladys Lucille Cato Wright in Hartsville, Tennessee, on April 17, 1940.

Wayne married his wife, Beverly Ann Blankenship, on October 14, 1961. They lived in Tennessee and Garland, Texas, before settling in Wills Point in 1978. Wayne worked as a computer technician at Texas Instruments for 25 years and as a patient aide for 10 years at Terrell State Hospital before retiring in 2005. He was a member of Edgewood Church of Christ.

Wayne was raised on a dairy farm, and raising cattle was a lifelong passion for him. He took pride in caring for his herd, working on his cattle ranch, and sharing lessons of ranch life with his family and friends. Those who knew him will remember not only his dedication to family, but also the joy he found in a life spent working outside and caring for his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly. He leaves behind daughters, Kim McKissick and husband David McKissick of Lyndon, Kansas, and Shawn Wilabay of Wills Point, Texas; sons, Derek Wright and wife Suzanne of Canton, Texas, and John Wright and wife Jennifer of Searcy, Arkansas; sister Evelyn Ann Ferrell of Bellevue, Tennessee; grandchildren Kacee Brimhall, Alexis Ender, Kaitlyn McKissick, Sarah Berridge, Brant Wilabay, William Wright, Owen Wright and Emily Wright; great-grandchildren Jayton Ender, Darci Ender, Shephard Berridge and Canaan Berridge. 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home, located at 205 Corky Boyd Ave. Wills Point, Texas
